This last week, we have seen how wild nature can be here.
Sean got a text asking if we were okay with the fire. We hadn't even heard about it. To ksl.com we looked, and it reported a fire on the northeast side of town. "Oh, that's where we are!" So... we went exploring.... on foot. We walked up the street a few blocks, and up a hill and didn't see anything. We kind of shrugged, and turned around to go back home:
Behold. (There IS smoke in the distance.)
The fire reported was actually on the west side of town; so not close to us at all. We continued our walk to see if we could get a closer look.
We got as close as the new hospital, and then there were a few law enforcement people posted.
The good news is, no one was hurt and no homes were damaged. Just mosquito nests apparently.
On a separate note regarding nature, the water level in the Colorado River is really high. Locals that have been here for 20-30 years have never seen it so high. The road that takes Sean to work, follows the river, and at some points the river is almost to the road. It is looking more like the Mississippi than the Colorado. (Sorry for the lack of pictures. I didn't even think of that until I started writing....) So, remember your water safety folks!

Last weekend as I drove my sisters to Midway through the Provo Canyon, I was amazed at the Provo River! There were no boulders in site, the water covered them all, it just looked like a really big river. Same with the Deer Creek Reservoir, it is so full!
