DC Day 3

Brad had to work this day, so we decided to hang out in Virginia for the day and venture out to DC when everyone could join.

Not to far from the Poulton's house was an outlet mall. It had to be given a closer inspection. Just had to. Some of us had good finds, and I found it helped prepare my feet for all the walking they were going to do the rest of the week. Sam introduced some of us to Rita's. It is an east coast franchise. It is shaved ice and ice cream mixed together. Amazing concept!

When Brad came home, he made us some of his amazing smoothy! He has his smoothy down to a science! We had it before dinner was served. It was a nice drink to have before eating.

We watched fireflies, and tried to get pictures of them glowing. The lightning bugs give a little magical feel! So many trees and so green in that neck of the woods!

It was always fun putting Katelyn to bed.

Tomorrow: DC.

DC Day 2

We went to church with the Poultons. Our Moab Stake was having a special fast, and their stake in Virginia was a having a fast. Ours was to bless the land with rain and theirs was to keep the rain from the land for an upcoming event. Amazing how things can be so different on opposite sides of the country.

Megan made a scrumptious roast for dinner, and it was a lovely day of rest. We played games in the evening:

Katelyn got a quick trim:

And a nice group recently visiting New York came in! All together, we were ready to party!! Well, after some food, and a good night of rest.

DC Day 1

We made our way to the Provo Airport Saturday morning. Our flight was leaving at 8:15, so we were sure to have plenty of time.

Fortunately, we made a stop at the Provo Bakery before arriving at the airport.

We arrived 35 minutes early for our 8:15 flight. Unfortunately, upon arrival we were told our flight was at 8:00 and we missed the flight. The friendly flight man asked if we were the Gowens, and said they had already stopped boarding. After several questions were asked, they were able to get us through security before they closed down and out the door to the tarmac. Yes, we were asked to run to the plane.

Fortunately, we made our flight and did not miss any other flights for the day!

Barely making the flight before it left.

Unfortunately, Frontier no longer serves cookies on their longer flights.

Fortunately, we made it to DC safely!

Brad picked us up from the airport, and gave us a quick spin around DC before taking us home to Virginia.

Brad, Megan, and Katelyn were so welcoming! They gave a tour of their home, fed us delicious food, and we stayed up late doing computer stuff and talking.

End Day 1.

End of June = Vacation!

We took a ride up to north to catch a plane. On the way up, we took note of the variety in sky. It was a combination of wind and clouds and forest fires.

I tried to take some shots near Scofield where everything is closed, but it was too dark by then. It makes the drive so nice when you get to choose your driving buddy!
