Snow.... before the snow.

 Travis and Jessica invited us to a concert they were performing in at Snow. We drove over after work, and made it with time to spare.

The drive was beautiful! Love the Fall.

 

It had been a while since going to a concert, so it was fun to make the trip. They performed Brahms' Requiem. (Sean was super excited to see Craig Jessop conduct.)

It was time to celebrate the performance, so a trip to The Malt Shop was requisite (Sean's word).

 

After staying in their spacious and beautiful apartment (totally fell in love!), we headed to Manti for breakfast. 

There was a bakery that had great reviews online and we decided on donuts (as there are no good donuts in Moab). Shall we say AMAZING??? Yes. Yes we shall.

They were freshly made that morning and delicious and warm and gooey and huge and big and...and... and covered in goodness!! (Can you tell we have missed donuts?)

Some may or may not have gotten in my nose....

And we happily ate them all. The end.

We will definitely be visiting the donut shop (and Travis and Jessica) again.

A Bountiful Harvest

We've gotten into Bountiful Baskets here. It has been fun getting most of our produce every 2 weeks, and exploring new recipes with the different fruits and veggies. For instance, I had never really made anything with mangoes, tomatillos, eggplant, and kiwi. Figs?? No.

Here are the first few weeks of the basket:

See that nice box of tomatoes? It was a lot of tomatoes. It was nice to throw them in almost everything. We made several batches of salsa, and some spaghetti sauce. All fresh!

It was a lot of tomatoes though. Since I wasn't feeling motivated to can, it was decided that sun-dried tomatoes would also need to be made. This is how you make them:

They dry on low for several hours. I underestimated the amount of time it would take, so I had to set my alarm for 3:00am to turn them off. It was worth it though! These flavor filled bits will last in the freezer up to 6 months. That is, if we don't eat them all first...

A Trip of Hellos and One Farewell

We took a quick trip up to see family in South Jordan.

First we got to see these faces:

And the camera was on the wrong setting for this picture, but the dinner was for the two birthday kids. It was also the last time some of the family would get to see Forrest before going to the MTC.

Then we got to see these faces. I kind of took a lot of pictures with the little ones....

Lastly, we went played with Forrest and said "farewell" with some of the best appetizers around.
