It's June

I was going through my camera this morning, and forgot some things that have been going on.

Memorial Day Weekend, we got back in town after being in Wendover. Saturday morning, we had a posse of bikers gather in the parking lot behind our house:

The Moab Arts Festival was going on in town so we headed over to check it out. We were impressed at the variety of booth and vendors.Our neighbor is in the Taiko Group and they played at the festival. They were pretty darn good. (Taiko is a Japanese drum.)

Our friends the Cooks stayed with us for a few days. It was nice to see them and catch up. Sean taught their daughter a fun way to accessorize:

I headed up to Salt Lake this last weekend to see my friend Heather. We checked out Temple Square:

And visited the Draper and Oquirrh Mountain Temples. Heather let me practice some of my portrait skills on her. Two of my favorites:

We met up with our friend Karalee, and I was the model for them as we did a vintage photo shoot. I've only seen little previews, but it was fun to do and fun to spend time with those two.

I think that brings us up to date. The weather is getting warmer, and we haven't killed all of our garden yet!

Gowen Gathering - Indio Style

It was time for a Gowen gathering, so some of us headed to Indio, CA. We picked Billy up in Green River and headed to the Cereal Bowl of the Nation. I don't know what that means, but that is apparently one of the nicknames for California.

It was overcast the entire drive, so it made it very scenic.

We feasted the entire time we were at the resort. JC made sure there was plenty of food at every moment. The food was super good too.

We enjoyed beautiful So Cal weather over the weekend.

We headed to a restaurant to get free appetizers... There was a miscommunication and there were no free appetizers. We grabbed a few things, but the setting was perfect. They had waterfalls and lush vegetation for their patio seating. Emree tried a lemon, and it was very entertaining.

There were a few trips to the outlets (HAPPY!) and a few dips in the lazy river. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera when we were being lazy on the lazy river, or when we weren't so lazy on the lazy river. Some of the boys got in trouble for not being lazy enough...let's just say there was a large train and we gathered some new friends. Super fun!

There were a couple rounds of Wits and Wagers played.

After saying Happy Mother's Day, we all departed. Sean and I took a new (to us) route home and had an uneventful ride home.

Thank you to Allie and JC for organizing the stay in Indio and being so fantastic. Thank you JC for the amazing food. Pineapple on hamburgers won't ever be the same. Thanks everyone else for being so nice to be around and playing with. Thanks Emree for being so darn cute.

A Little of This and That

Life seems to have picked up recently. Sean even made the comment, "I thought things would slow down after the holidays." I then informed him Cinco de Mayo just happened, and he couldn't get away from the holidays. I doubt it made him feel better....

Our friends invited us to go on a hike with them. It was the perfect weather, and entertaining conversations. My favorite topic was: Famous people who have/haven't aged well. The trail had a steep elevation gain, but was totally worth it for the view.

We were able to catch a glimpse of the Moab Car Show before leaving town. It is always fun to see the classics drive into town.

In Wendover, we stayed on the sixth floor of our hotel for both trips. I have to say, I love what the housekeeping staff do with the towels on that floor. It puts an instant smile to the face.
