Spring = More Hiking!

We've been doing a lot of hiking recently. And by recently, I mean over the last month.... But here's an update of what we've been exploring recently:

Night hike at the Windows Section in Arches Nat'l Park.

 Jeep Arch. A friend of mine wanted to go on a hike during her Spring Break. We got in the truck, grabbed the dogs, and found Jeep Arch. I thought it was fitting since we went during Jeep Safari. (It was fun driving in the truck, and seeing the kind of reaction guys gave us.) Thanks Christa!

 We finally found Cable Arch! It took three attempts, but we succeeded in the end. If you want to hike to Cable Arch, ask us for directions. It's not super tricky to find....if you're looking in the right place. (I got to use my first scrambling skills of the season!)

 Fisher Towers. This was down the river a bit. It was a beautiful drive and worth the time getting there. At this sight, there is a camp ground and a few trails to follow. There is also opportunity for scrambling, which we took!

  Our first friends in Moab recently moved back. He has a job as a zip-line guide. They are still training and ironing minor details out. They had a friends and family day, and we were lucky enough to go. For free! It was a super windy once we got to the top of the fins.  This is us trying to show how windy it was:

We zipped five lines, two of them were a quarter mile long. Pretty cool. The first quarter miler was the windiest. Because of the wind, we were all pushed along a bit faster on the line and all of us had a hearty push back when we got to the break. (I bumped my nose on my arm. One week later, I still have a lovely bruise on my arm! My blood will forever bee immortalized at the end of that line.) Totally fun and worth hanging out in gusty winds for three hours! Thoughts on Thrusday - Writing

We're surrounded by great writers. They're everywhere! Thanks to easy access to many, many things online. Whether it is a great article, blog post, or clever update on social networks.

For me, some things are very easy to write about while other subjects are daunting. It is intimidating being surrounded by the greatness sometimes. Not that it's a competition. 

With my lack of words on some subjects, I want to declare that I've learned a lot and feel super, super blessed. Part of life's journey isn't as easy to eat as a strawberry cream pie (this was our dessert for Easter this year. Very good, by the way!). Sometimes the flavors are so complex, or the texture is very difficult to get through, or the correct tools aren't at hand to eat in the most effective and efficient manner. Regardless (or as some would say: irregardless), every bit is satisfying and worth the effort.

Summary: Life is an amazing journey, and I feel so blessed to be living.

Wednesday - What We've Been Up To

We've been up to a bit over the last few weeks. I just haven't gotten over here to tell you about it. With the end of February, brought warmer weather. Warmer weather means to me - time to get outside and enjoy nature!

Park Avenue Trail

Sean was sent out to the plant in Wendover for work, and I got to go with him. It was really nice to be together in the evenings. A lot less lonely. Over two weeks, we stayed in four different rooms. This one was our favorite. I'm impressed how the decorators can combine, opulent and sleazy.

In between trips out to Wendover, we got to go on another hike. There was an arch at the end!

Canyon Hike

 When we got back from Wendover, we had some visitors come into town! Wahoo! It was so nice relaxing together and enjoying the days we had.

As you can see, many pictures were taken of the cute little one, the fellows enjoyed watching soccer, did an experiment involving curry and Oxy Clean, and there was lots of playing. (Thanks Travis, Jessica, and Emree for spending some of your Spring Break with us!!)

Last weekend, we spent less then 24 hours in Salt Lake County to see Utah Opera's production of The Magic Flute. We met up with some Wendover coworkers to see the show and grabbed a good amount of sushi before. It was rushed, but an excellent and enjoyable performance. (Thanks Rick and Laura for letting us introduce you to opera!)

I think that sums up what we've been up to in the last month. We're looking forward to Easter and General Conference!
