June, June, June

Our month has been good so far.

One of the next door neighbors came over, and told us we had to follow her outside. She had a NASA folder with her full of brochures and information, and was very excited to share. Venus was passing in front of the sun, and she had all the equipment with her for us to view it properly!

The camera didn't pick it up... at all, but it was very cool to see! It won't happen again for another 70 years.

We also took a little hike up Negro Bill Canyon, and I took my camera this time!

One day we'll finish it! It was a beautiful and diverse hike. We will definitely go on that trail again.

Fiery Furnace with the Boys

This weekend we had some friends come down to play in Arches. They let us tag along on Saturday, and it was pretty fun. First of all, it was Tommy, Tyler, and Eric. Second, we were able to get a personal permit to Fiery Furnace. Put those two together, and it was a hiking party! Observe:

A nice person offered to take this picture... after they saw us struggling to take it ourselves.

I dropped the cover to my lenses a few times....so Sean retrieved it....

We tried several times to get a group shot...this is the best one.

Running on canyon walls!

Tommy doing a jump.

Tyler doing a jump.

It was a perfect day to explore Fiery Furnace. We hiked, army crawled, leaped, scrambled, scooted, sprawled, and had a lot of fun. It was nice being in an area of the Park with so few people.

That evening we did a hike down Negro Bill Canyon. I forgot a few things for the hike, including the camera. (We will do that hike again, and will definitely take the camera.) My body has never protested so much after a day of hiking. Totally worth it!

Memorial Day with Cindy

Cindy came down to play! It was exciting on a lot of levels, but mostly we were happy to see her. We went to Arches National Park on Saturday to show her some of the sights. It was a little windy out, but we figured it would be fine. We started at Balanced Rock:

The clouds were working beautifully! Look at how nicely they are accenting the formation. There is a little walk that takes you around Balanced Rock. We got about half way around the rock, and decided to turn around. There were reported 60mph gusts along with the 15-25mph constant winds. Sean was afraid members of the party would blow away....so we sought sanctuary in the car.

Thankfully, we have a Park Pass so it wasn't a big deal returning another day. We went out to Sean's work location, admired Jug Handle Arch and some Indian writing:

We entertained ourselves indoors the remainder of the day, and Cindy organized our bookshelf. She is so nice!

We ventured out again on Monday. Starting with a bakery breakfast:

Back to Arches we went! The wind was down to a nice breeze with gusts down to 5-15mph.

Park Avenue, aka opening scene in Indiana Jones!

Double Arch

North Window Arch

Turret Arch

Thanks for coming down to play for a few days Cindy! It was lovely seeing you!!!
